Especially people I don't know very well.
Double especially if I'm not directly related to you.
If you would have come Tuesday - my house would have been in much better shape. As it is, it looks like it hasn't been cleaned in weeks. I'm so embarrassed and so angry right now. A courtesy call would have avoided all of this frustration (and a fast search for a necessary undergarment!)
I wonder if my house will ever be to where it feels like I could have an open door policy.
I'm going to go cry now.
When I'm done crying I'm going to teach my kids to entertain visitors outside instead of letting them in.
and p.s. if you're ever the one to visit someone in this situation, don't judge. my kids can make a mess faster than any people i've met in my life. also - don't stare at laundry piles. it's rude. have i mentioned how embarrassed i am?
*edit: thank you to my dear father in law who showed up shortly after (but called first) and helped me calm down a bit and laugh. he's a good man.

Oh, Jolene, I'm sorry. Do they have children? Chances are they weren't judging if they do. I SO know where you're coming from. One time, the neighbor came over with a LOAF OF HOMEMADE BREAD for us. It was 2pm, I was still in my pj's, and the sink was overflowing with filthy dishes. It was cold outside, and I wanted to invite her in, but I was so embarrassed I couldn't even bring myself to thank her properly.
No judgement from HaikuLady. None at all.
Gaul, I know the feeling. Adrian's family did that once to me and I was really angry!!
I'm sorry! :(
ugh who does that??? calls are ALWAYS necessary. unless you're in college, living in a dorm, and you stop by an open door. otherwise, CALL for goodness sakes.
LOL! Oh beanie! I'm so sorry! It's weird because my cuz Jackie, was just venting about this yesterday because it was brought to her attention that her MIL was coming to visit! They just bought a house and being that she's preggers, she isn't the most mobile. So she feels your pain! I do too! Perhaps FlyLady should be summoned? *wink*
love you beanie. I love your house no matter the condition. It's precious!
