FarmBoy

Happy birthday, man of mine. You'll never see this post cause you won't/don't read my blog so I guess I can say whatever I want about you to all of my friends and family who do :) Here goes!

In honor of turning 33 today - here are 33 observations, comments, lovenotes for you - in no particular order:

1. You can drive me madder than anyone I've ever known - but you have the exact reverse effect on me too. I've never known a soul who can cheer me up the way that you do - who can make me laugh at my ridiculousness the way you do.

2. I love how our kids go crazy when you get home at night. They're always so excited to see you.

3. I love that twinkle you get in your eyes when you tease.

4. I love your extremes in making dinner - it's either an all-out porkchops down to the stuffing kind of meal - or chicken nuggets and frenchfries thrown in the oven.

5. I love that when the kids wake up at night - they tend to go to your side of the bed to fix whatever is bothering them. Even though my side of the bed is much closer to the door.

6. I love that you make a big messy breakfast on Saturday mornings when you're home.

7. I don't really love, though, that you leave the mess for me to clean up ;)

8. I'm so grateful to work side-by-side with you. I feel I get to know you so much better - and learn other dimensions of you that I wouldn't necessarily get to see otherwise.

9. I love that you're completely goofy at times. I've seen you dance in the front of the store - not caring that anyone is watching. I've even seen you air-bowling down the main aisle!

10. You make me crazy with your passionate political rhetoric - but I respect you so much for wholeheartedly embracing and doing what you believe.

11. I love how even after the longest day you pull me a little tighter to you at night and say I love you so dang sweetly I could cry.

12. Remember when you saw Erich and Anna laying in the bathtub singing songs the other day? I never want to forget the look on your face as you watched them. Your smile went straight to your eyes.

13. It happened to be the same look that you gave me on our wedding day. I have a huge picture (which I really should hang) to prove it.

14. Thanks for all the donated $ and time you've put into my photography obsession. I can't imagine being quite so generous if the situation was reversed. But then, you've always been the more generous one between us.

15. Did you know you captured my heart with the Gone With The Wind Barbie that you gave me for my 20th birthday?

16. You recaptured it when you bought me the ridiculous purple chrome nailpolish 4 years later. Perhaps silly - but oh-so true.

17. Our son reminds me so much of you. I wonder if you were like him when you were little. He loves spending as much time outside with you as possible. Regardless of the weather.

18. I had so much fun watching Smokey's new doghouse come together this fall. You are truly a jack of all trades. And I'm sure she appreciates her new mansion which is so much more comfortable for her.

19. Last night you had to call me in the house to help you out in the barn. You thought I was pretty frustrated that you were interrupting my American Idol time, but I didn't really mind. I kind of like helping you out there.

20. I especially liked it once I saw what you were up to. You're right, that brand new baby calf will be much more comfortable in the barn than in the cowyard. I'm sure its momma appreciates it too.

21. You look terribly sexy carrying a baby calf and calling for their momma's to follow. Who knew.

22. In fact any time you have to use those strong, strong arms, I melt. Melt, melt.

23. Perhaps you don't remember, but once upon a time you called me Princess. I loved it then. Now I appreciate even more when you make me feel like a Queen.

24. I also remember a time, many years ago, of you holding me telling me that everything would be okay because you'd always take care of me. I believe it as much now as I did then. You are a man of your word.

25. I've come to realize that your stubborness is as much about you being committed to your decisions as it is about being plain old stubborn.

26. When it counts, you often don't say the right thing. I love that. It's much more real than coming up with a line of b.s. to make a certain someone feel better about herself.

27. After my water broke with Annabelle, I remember being in the bathroom in so much pain - and wanting you so terribly. I want to want you like that for the rest of my life. You are my rock.

28. I get a twinge, a good twinge, when I see your "thinking" side give way to your "feeling" side. Not that I don't appreciate your thinking side - it just makes these moments even more spectacular.

29. I probably don't say it often enough, but I love you just the way you are.

30. I've decided your grumpy curmudgenoness about birthdays must really be your way of testing to see if we'll make a big deal about it anyhow. To show you how much we love you, I think I WILL make that macaroni and cheese for dinner tonight. Maybe I'll make you a potato, though, so you won't have to eat it ;)

31. Words in our language don't seem to be enough to thank you for all the work you do for our family. Really. I appreciate all that you do - even when I'm pretty frustrated with the time that it takes away from being with you.

32. This list was a lot easier to make than I thought it would be. I think that's a pretty good sign. I must *still* love you ;)

33. Bruckheimer helped come up with this list - and even though a single soul reading this won't get it, I can chuckle cause I know you would.

Happy birthday, Babe. I love you!

I really hope he decides to log on some time and check this out.
It's too precious to go without recognition from the ever-so-showered-with-praise 33-year-old in the post:)

I seriously hope that FarmBoy reads this... he's missing out on something big if he doesn't! This is so great, Jo.

I decided to email it to him - cause he really would never bother to look at the blog. He started off being goofy reading it - hit the b/s button a couple of times - chuckled once - and said thank you at the end. I'm glad he read it - and he thought it was much better than a birthday card. :)
