Peer pressure doesn't just go away after high school. In fact, I sometimes think the stakes get even higher. Last night at the dinner table the kids told FarmBoy how Granny had made a pie for Papa. FarmBoy turned green with envy and made a few comments insinuating that I should make pie.
Pie crusts are scary. Ask LyssyPoo. She and I had a pie adventure once. We had to call SuperMom/Granny to come and rescue us from our mistakes! It was stressful. The only other pie crust I've made was with FarmBoy's help to make some chicken potpie about 6 years ago. Safe to say I'm intimidated? I thought so.
Back to the peer pressure. I was determined to do this. I had to. I had to be more like SuperMom and make MY husband pie. Grrrrrr! And it had to be homemade. I could do this. I would do this. It would have to be lemon meringue (one of my favorites) because it was the only thing I had for pie filling - and because there was no way I was going to attempt a two-crust pie.
So apparently, determination is a great equalizer. It didn't turn out gorgeous like hers, but it turned out; and damn if it don't taste good!

you think it didn't turn out gorgeous??? i'd argue with that. YUM! it looks SO DELICIOUS! what a fine wife you are. :)
Yay!!! You successfully conquered Pie Making 101!! Or maybe this felt more like 401? ha!
It's too bad I couldn't be there to experience this. After our last adventure with the pie crust, it would have been just as satisfying for me. And I probably would have called SuperMom anyway, just for 'tradition' sake. LOL!
WOW! That meringue rose really well!!! It looks amazing and delish. WAY TO GO!
YOU DID IT!!! Very impressive pie-menship! Love you, babe.
I think it's pretty gorgeous...
Pie-manship.
Haha!
Ok, that looks amazing! I need a big slice of that with a glass of milk, stat! :) Great job.
