a springtime song

After being in Dallas all weekend, I'm suffering from some pretty serious spring fever. Yesterday I opened up a few windows in the house and heard the most beautiful song - a sweet little bird, who hasn't been heard from since last year, welcoming in the day. I need to learn what kind of bird makes this sound. I just love it!

What's your favorite sign of the arrival of spring?

EDIT: I found a perfect website that sings birdie songs :) It was a chicadee singing a little "fee-beee"

I have a favorite tune that a bird sings that when I hear it, it IMMEDIATELY takes me back to riding my bike at my grandma's house in the spring/summer. I look forward to hearing it every year and almost stop in my tracks to soak it up! also, the many puddles you see now - it proves the warmth is here and HOPEFULLY will stay! However March usually tricks us pretty good into going BACK into the subzero temps for a few more weeks. Not very nice...

oh this is exciting! my favorite sign of spring is seeing all the people outside again. it used to get me so excited when i was in college. yesterday i witnessed it again while dave and i went on a nice long walk--along with the rest of the minneapolis population.

One of the very rare things I miss about a cold and snowy winter is the smell in the air as the snow melts away. I now am simply comforted by the few days of winter rain we get in the desert and the budding in the trees as "spring" approaches.
