whoa - where did that come from

I woke up this morning and walked into my kitchen like every other morning but I was surprised to see oodles and oodles of canned goodies staring me in the face. It would seem that early on Saturday I was abducted by aliens and replaced, to my FarmBoy's delight, with a lovely domesticated FarmWife. Happily, this weekend's canning was a much smoother process than the too-spicy sauce of a couple of weeks ago.

We made lots of tomato juice, some tomato sauce, a couple jars of roasted red peppers, a few frozen bags of squash, and some homemade salsa. Wow. The even better part, the abducted/replaced me didn't even mind doing it (until late yesterday afternoon when my feet were sore and my hands burning from not using gloves with the chili peppers. Who knew!?!) The best part... well, it's kind of silly, but the best part was looking outside while chopping and squashing and seeing my chickens roaming and running around the lawn, scratching at the ground and muttering to each other. It is soo cute and it just makes my heart happy to watch. Maybe I was more meant to be a farmer's wife than I could have realized. Maybe.

jo, i even stopped this weekend and thought about all the canning you were doing. i am SO IMPRESSED! you are quite domesticated, and it gave me hope that maybe in five years or so, i'll be the one who can look at shiny rows of canned goodness. you win. :) happy farming!
