what the hell was that!

I just reached in my knife drawer to get a peeler cause I'm going to make some delish chicken and dumplings for supper tonight. I saw the peeler and went to look at it carefully to see if it was my preferred one... my eyes refocused and I looked past the peeler into the drawer and there was a FRIGGEN MOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was like stuck in my apple corer slicer thingy. EWWW. I want to scream! My hand was -this- close to it and I think I'm going to puke now. How am I going to get this thing out of there. He's alive. I wonder if Tyler will get him for me when he gets home in a few minutes. In the meantime... WAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, NOOO! I'm sorry!
This time of year we ALWAYS have a mouse.
You should know, we have a dog AND cat at our house. The dog barks at mice and the cat watches them intently.
Rad.

I still shake when I start to think of it. We are no stranger to mice in this house - we've caught and killed dozens since we've moved in. We've plugged the holes we can find but they must have found another one in time for the fall rush. Ugh!! But seriously, getting that close to a mouse is freakish!! Ick! Yuck! Eww! Waa!!

Tyler walked in the door about two minutes after I finished posting and I asked him if he'd help. He said yep and started hunting for gloves. He was going to use little latex gloves but I told him I didn't think it'd be a good idea cause it could bite him through them. We decided to open the drawer and see if he was still there and he amazingly was stuck to the glue trap that I keep in the back of the drawer (you can see he is not the first critter to find his way through my sharp stuff). Hallelujah! Ty grabbed the trap and brought it outside for an afternoon snack for Smokey. I guess a cute came of "cat and mouse" ensued. The mouse looking over his shoulder at Smokey, raising a "paw?" and hissing. Ha! Gulp and gone! That'll teach him for messing with me!!!! Thank you Tyler. Thank you Smokey. Thank you Mr. Glue-Trap Inventor Guy. Today's fun job is bleaching everything in that drawer and starting all over.

That's the best laugh I've had all day. And yes, we farm women have had to learn to deal with those little creatures more often than we want to admit - a couple of weeks ago I was awaken at 2:30 in the morning to the sound of the mouse trap going closed. And then had to listen to it for the next 20 minutes as the trap was being pulled around. Finally convinced myself to go back to sleep and take care of it in the morning.

OK - so I didn't know how to identify myself in the last blog. I'll get this stuff figured out yet. Mary
