one foot in front of the other

We had a lovely Wednesday night. Tyger is off for the week at his Dad's house and PrincessGirl spent the night with SuperGran. That left me with one little Cowboy and one little MeToo (soon to be getting another new name - sorry - this just isn't cutting it). I decided it was the perfect opportunity to try something new - something that doesn't work well with FOUR kids. We went for a walk/bike ride. Our goal was to make it the two miles to Unkie and Auntie's house. With MeToo in the stroller and Cowboy on his new bike, we started out strong, making our way past the dirt road to the tar. Before long we ran into neighbors (we have neighbors???) and had a lovely little chat. Then we were off again. Suddenly we were in residential Rosemount. It was a strange, strange feeling.

I felt like a dork when:
- walking on sidewalks near beautifully manicured lawns (we live on a non-manicured farm)
- my kids kept shouting HI to everyone they saw
- MeToo started screaming cause she didn't want to be in the stroller anymore
- I had to lean over the bike to help MeToo and my shirt... well, I basically flashed a nice guy who was jogging past.
- sprinklers were watering the sidewalk and I didn't want to get wet and ended up tipping Cowboy off his bike with crazy manuevering.
- neighbors would wave hi to each other and we'd wave back before realizing it wasn't meant for us.
- it took three double-takes to realize there was a little girl shimmied up to the top on a street sign post
- I realized it took over an hour and a half to make it to our destination
- felt like begging Unkie for a ride back home.
- Unkie offered a ride and I practically threw the kids in the truck before he could change his mind.
- FarmBoy calling on our way home and having to admit I had gotten in over my head :)

What an education; but, we made it, and, now I know for next time: drive to the park, and ride/walk from there. A much-less daunting trip.

oh my gosh, what an adventure! but you did it!!! that list is hilarious, by the way. i'm sure the friendly jogger didn't mind a little eye candy, and erich has probably already forgiven you for tipping him off his bike.
as for a new name for nan, any ideas?? i like "nannabelly" but it's long.

HA! Hilarious post today. Isn't it so funny how you think it should just be a nice, calm trip and it turns into that?! I only have a dog out on walks and I still manage to make myself look like an idiot one way or another.
I'm sure you guys still had a great time together! :)

I can picture it all and love it! My vote is for nanna (we called one of my roomies this), but I know you'll come up with something rather clever!
