sumbthucking: take 2

Well, the official Sumbthucking battle has begun. A couple of weeks ago FarmBoy decided that it's time. I agree. She's old enough now where she can understand it and start to teach herself new habits. He thought of taking first aid tape (the paper stuff) and gently wrapping it around her thumb with a smidge of nasty-tasting Vicks to help ward off any temptation. Here's what we've learned since that day two weeks ago.
- If you wrap one thumb, you better wrap two. She'll just switch hands.
- If you think you can get away with just giving her a different blanket, forget it. She'll just trick you into thinking that she won't suck her thumb and then do it when you're not looking.
- If you think you don't really need the tape, the Vicks should do the trick, forget it. She'll just suck it off (her words, not mine).
- If you think having everything taped off and tasting nasty will do the trick, forget it. She'll just start sucking on her big toes. Seriously. I still can't believe it.

I love the new look!

That little one is just way too smart! Eventually sucking her toes is going to have to become too much work. At least at my age it would be!

LOL!!! Her TOES!??? EEK!

Angie's right, there's gotta be a book out there that's directed towards smaller children and able to make it look FUN to stop sucking your thumb. Maybe it's time for an ultimatum? About being a big girl and if she doesn't show how she's a 'big girl,' she won't be treated like a big girl and will have to start following rules that apply to MeToo? Or are they on the same track anyway considering they aren't THAT far apart... ?

Jolene, your blog is beautiful!!! You definitely win!
As far as thumb sucking...for me...it was ALL about the blanket. When my parents forced to take it away my blanket, it was all down hill for me and my thumb.
Princess sounds pretty determined, though! :)
