calligraphy

DragonRider has been quite interested in quills and inks and the like as of late. Tonight he was doing some browsing on the internet and found some cool looking quills. He had gotten some ink for Christmas and was sure he needed some sort of very special pen to use with it. (Santa's intention was that he just try using a plain old bird quill with no special tip. Duh, Santa!) After he found it, I mentioned to him that I have a calligraphy set that perhaps he'd like to try.

Oh would he!

I don't think I'll ever see my beloved pen and ink set again.

Interestingly, I think I was pretty darn close to his age when I got it. SuperMom, do you remember? It's fun to relive the excitement of this - I remember so well how I felt when I used to write with this set. Maybe I'll try it out for Christmas cards next year since I survived this years so well.

Boy, do I ever remember! You had lots of fun with it. I saw an interesting program lately where the guy had a feather quill. It was neat to watch the cuts he made so it would fill with the ink. I thought of DR when I saw it.
