Eeek! I'm sure the Post Office sees that all the time actually - people get anxious to mail them, without postage. I know Jeff does it from time to time on our mortgage payment. Out of all the bills, he does that on the mortgage. HA! But no worries beanie. Maybe you can call the PO and have them "stop" the processing so you can add postage ? somehow?
it was so stupid. i got to the post office, got all the kids out of the van, got inside the doors and the window had closed 5 minutes before. got the kids back to the van and tried to decide if i should leave it in the drop box or wait until today. i decided i didn't want to risk it and i would get it done while i was there. put my return address on the envelopes, drove around to the big mailboxes, decided that it would be better to bring them IN the building, ran inside and slipped them in the slot. i was so relieved it was done but worried and wondered if i should have waited to hand it to someone.
i told FarmBoy that last night and he just joked, "Well you put postage on it, didn't you! It will get there." i didn't sleep very well after that.
i called the post office at 7:30 and it was gone. they told me that i might get it back in the mailbox in a couple of days since the mail isn't manually handled (postage wouldn't be noticed) until it got to where it's delivered.
talked to FarmBoy who has convinced me it's not worth it to worry about it. at least we FILED on time. and the penalty may be less than it would cost to stop the payments on the checks. plus, i'm still banking on a miracle here. otherwise, i will chalk this one up to the expensive college of life and remember that next year - I AM NOT SENDING IN TAXES!
i had this same panic attack last year when i thought i had forgotten to enclose the check. (i didn't. i just couldn't remember doing it.)
i'm officially done. and i officially really miss my single, pre-farm, days where i would be waiting for a rebate instead! lol!
Oh Jo, I'm so sorry that life can be so crazy at times...I'm still hoping that you somehow did put stamps on it and just can't remember doing it. Call the IRS and see what they suggest you do about it. God bless you. A true test of trust, huh? I love you and I'm glad SIL is so non-chalant about it instead of bawling you out over it. ~sm

oh, jo. i will pray.
I'll keep my fingers crossed. Hopefully the PO will be feeling generous. Good luck!

This is why I don't touch our taxes...that's completely for Adrian to deal with. They scare me too much.
