Sarah - before spending the $, note that they taste a LOT like crabapples. I made my SIL try a bite and she was able to pin the odd flavor for me. Prepare to pucker and be unsure of which way to twist your mouth.
A red pear? I honestly didn't even know they had such a thing...I must be pretty sheltered. I do enjoy a good green pear, but haven't purchased one in quite some time!

I just bought a brown pear the other day, best one I've had in a LONG time. I recommend the brown...maybe it'll redeem the pear as a whole for you.
